




Outreach Workshops & Career Counseling:
Outreach workshops, and career and educational counseling services are a large part of the year round commitment to the women of the south central Appalachian region. Not all women who apply for the residential program are accepted and many other deserving women are unable to leave home for this length of time. Because of this, outreach employment and enrichment workshops are offered each spring and fall semester.
The NOSW offers workshops throughout central and eastern Kentucky in a wide variety of subject areas, such as job search skills, leadership development, returning to school, building self-esteem, journaling, and computer basics. These are offered at no cost to the participants.
Career and education counseling and job search assistance is offered by the Career/Education Counselor at the NOSW office by individual appointments on a continuing basis on career and education counseling, resume writing, interview coaching, skills identification, and job search assistance.

Internship Requirement:
While at the New Opportunity School, session attendees are required to work each day as an intern in several locations throughout the local community. These internships provide invaluable career and networking experience. These photos show our women in their professional settings:
