Two Week Program

You asked for it. We listened.

NOSW's FREE, Two-Week Residential Program equips participants to define, pursue, and achieve their dreams of success.

Whether it's getting a job, going back to school, starting a business, or simply exploring potential opportunities and restoring self-esteem, Appalachian women's lives have been transformed by NOSW's unique curriculum since 1987.

Curriculum Core Components

Self-Esteem and Wellness

From free dental and vision exams to mammograms to wellness workshops, NOSW makes sure each woman in the program takes care of her body's needs.

It's not just the body that needs some TLC--the mind and the heart do too. NOSW has certified professional counselors available at all times. Self-esteem and ongoing encouragement are often cited as the most rewarding and pivotal aspect of the program.

Career and Education

Need a job? We're here to help equip you with the tools you need to take the next step in your employment journey with our career-centered classes. Plus, you'll earn money and valuable work experience with a short-term internship.

Thinking of returning to school or retraining? We've got you covered there, too. Workshops on finding and applying for college or technical programs are also part of our curriculum. It's never too late to decide what you want to be when you grow up.

Arts, Culture, and Community

From classes on Appalachian literature and creative writing to group activities like quilt-making, Appalachian arts and culture are a core component of the residency. Being proud of and engaged in our unique cultural heritage is an important part of NOSW's identity.

Field trips to Frankfort, concerts, plays, and more offer participants exposure to cultural and civic opportunities they may not be exposed to at home.
